In a speech this morning, Judith called on the Government to do more to help those who care for people living with dementia, in the form of practical, emotional and financial support.
Judith spoke during the Dementia Debate at Parliament and used her speech to pay tribute to the thousands of carers that look after their loved ones suffering from the disease.
There are currently 850,000 people living with dementia, and this is set to double by 2040.
Judith Cummins MP, comments: “I want to pay a heartfelt tribute to the many thousands of carers in this country that provide a selfless service looking after their loved ones, and they deserve our utmost respect. But I am concerned that carers do not receive the support they need, both in terms of practical and financial help.
“It is to be welcomed that the Government is aiming to make the UK the best country in the world for dementia care, but this aspiration must be met with action and funding to make it a reality.”
