Judith Cummins, Member of Parliament for Bradford South has praised the response to the Bonfire period, following an evening on patrol with West Yorkshire Police ahead of Bonfire Night.
Joining Bradford South Inspector Adam Beecroft and his team last Friday, Judith patrolled anti-social hotspots across the constituency.
During the patrol, Judith discussed the joint approach to the busy bonfire period that sees the police, fire service, council and other agencies working together to report and respond to any incidents of anti-social behaviour as quickly as possible.
Judith heard how planning started months in advance, engaging schools and community groups in the safe and responsible use of fireworks.
More bobbies on the beat meant that neighbourhood police could quickly identify and tackle anti-social behaviour, while extra youth activities by the Youth Service and local community groups ensured that young people had more things to do and places to go.
Thanking emergency services, partners and the community, Judith said:
“Bonfire week is one of the most challenging periods for our emergency services. It was an eye-opening experience to join Inspector Beecroft and his team on one of their evening patrols.”
“I am grateful to all the emergency services and partners whose hard work has ensured that residents have been able to enjoy this bonfire period safely and responsibly.”
Inspector Adam Beecroft, Bradford South said:
“A lot of planning between Police and Partners goes on in the lead up to Bonfire night to ensure that Bonfire night is a safe and enjoyable night for the community. Both Police and partners worked tirelessly to ensure that Bradford South went largely without incident.
I want to extend thanks to my partners for assisting make this happen as they proved invaluable in the lead up and on the night.”
