Judith was delighted to welcome local community organisations to her ‘casework clinic’, inviting over a dozen voluntary and community groups to connect, share their expertise and develop stronger partnerships to better support residents.
Opening the event, Judith applauded the vital role that voluntary organisations play in supporting residents in Bradford:
“I know the past few years have been hard for organisations like yourselves as the challenges faced by the people you help have increased. But you have fought on, and remain a vital lifeline for so many people, whether that has been through food banks, welfare advice, health and wellbeing activities, or just providing a warm space and a friendly space for a cup of tea and a chat. Thank you for all you do.”
During the session, held at the Tong Wellbeing Hub at the Sutton Centre, Holme Wood, attending community organisations highlighted the huge increase in the number of people contacting them for help, on top of a greater proportion of people facing more complex, or multiple problems that might need the specialist expertise of more than one organisation.
Kay Wright, Tong Wellbeing Hub lead at the Sutton Centre said: “Judith’s event today has been a brilliant opportunity to strengthen links with partner organisations to ensure we are best placed to support whoever walks through our doors. In order to best support people in Bradford, the community sector simply cannot work in isolation.”
