During a visit to The new mental health recovery college based at Highfield Health Centre in Tong, Judith stated that "mental health needs to be treated exactly the same as physical health."
Judith went to the pioneering college to support the project that is helping residents across Bradford South with their mental health.
At the college Judith saw the mums and tots yoga class which helps new mothers that are going through post-natal depression.
The project is the first of its kind in the Bradford District, and it is helping to provide tailored sessions that look after all aspects of mental health.
Judith Cummins MP, comments: “Mental health needs to be treated exactly the same as physical health. That is why it is so great to see the recovery college at Highfield Health Centre, as now residents can go there to get help with physical injures and mental health.
“So many people across Bradford and the country are living with a range of mental health issues, which is why more needs to be done to have it right at the top of the health and social care agenda. Proper funding needs to be provided from government so that everyone can have access to these essential services.”
Julie Wakefield, Restore Recovery College co-ordinator comments: "We were delighted with Judith’s visit and the support she has given Restore. This is such a valuable project supporting some of the most vulnerable people in the locality. We have seen a big take up in people accessing the service. In such a short space of time we have received such positive feedback from attendees. People finding better ways to cope with their mental health and feeling more positive about their life; along with building new friendships and finding a purpose in life."
